Seminar 2017-02: Tangzhen - Comfortable Acupuncture
Speaker: Dr. Shaobai Wang

Date & Time: Sunday, June 25, 2017 [10:00AM-6:00PM] (7 NCCAOM PDA Points)
Location: 200 Old Country Road, Suite 410-5, Mineola, NY 11501

The seminar will discuss the following:
1. What is Tangzhen - Comfortable Acupuncture?
Tangzhen Style Acupuncture is also known as “Comfortable Acupuncture”. It is based upon the concept of holism and meridian theory from Traditional Chinese Medicine. It emphasizes on shallow insertion and gentle manipulation to minimize needling sensation by focusing on syndrome differentiation and individualizing treatment principle according to locality and culture. Comfortable Acupuncture does not intentionally seek to obtain any strong needling sensation such as soreness, distention, heaviness or pain. Tangzhen Style Acupuncture pays more attention on pathology of internal organs as well as that of the meridians. When forming a point prescription, it emphasizes on point specificity, points for treating the Shen and Ashi points. Points treating the internal organs are given higher priority followed by points for meridian disorders. It can also be combined with classical needling techniques, such as, forward/inverse, open/close, breathing, slow/swift.
2. Importance of Ashi point.
3. Application of Ashi concept in Jin Three Needle Technique
4. Principle of Shugan Three Needle
5. Importance of treatment of Shen
6. Tangzhen demonstration
